Care Cabin Food Pantry Distribution
The Care Cabin food pantry is open the 4th Saturday of each month from 8am-10am (unless otherwise stated).
If you are a Lackawaxen Township resident and are in need, please stop by during distribution hours.

Brunch with the Easter Bunny
Join us Saturday, March 28th for Brunch with the Bunny at our firehouse from 11am to 1pm!
Kids under age 12 eat for free. Adults and kids 12 and older pay just $10.
There will also be free photos with the Easter Bunny!

Focaccia Workshop at the VFW
Love fresh baked Focaccia but don’t know where to start? Join us on April 26th for an interactive Focaccia making workshop at VFW Post 5635 - 560 Route 590 in Lackawaxen PA. Come and enjoy an afternoon of bread, drinks and good company! BYOB! Tickets must be purchased to attend this event.
Ticket price includes a two-hour comprehensive workshop on focaccia making, two pans of Focaccia topped with your choice of various toppings (to be baked at home after the event), recipe card and a $10 donation to the VFW. Parks & Recreation "Trees" Nature Program
Have you ever wondered what kinds of trees surround you on your walks through the Lackawaxen Township? Join us for an engaging program as we explore the native trees that make our local forests so rich and diverse. Experts from the National Park Service will guide participants through identification techniques — from bark and leaf shape to seed and silhouette — helping you see the familiar landscape with fresh eyes.
This program is open to all ages and is a wonderful opportunity for families, nature enthusiasts, and curious minds alike. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The black bear is one of Pennsylvania's most iconic and fascinating wild neighbors. Whether you've spotted one in the woods or simply want to learn how to safely coexist with these remarkable animals, this program offers something for everyone.

The rivers, streams, and wetlands of the Lackawaxen area teem with remarkable wildlife just beneath the surface and along the water's edge. Join the National Park Service for a fascinating look at the aquatic mammals that call our waterways home — including beavers, otters, minks, and muskrats. Learn how each species plays a vital role in shaping and sustaining healthy riparian ecosystems right in our own backyard.

The Lackawaxen River and its tributaries are home to a remarkable variety of native fish species. Whether you're an avid angler or simply curious about what swims beneath the surface, this program offers an eye-opening look at the aquatic life all around us.

Long before European settlement, the Lackawaxen Valley was home to the Lenape, the Indigenous people who first inhabited and shaped this land. Join the National Park Service for a thoughtful and respectful exploration of Lenape history, culture, and their deep connection to the natural world of our region. Learn how they lived, what they knew about the land, and how their legacy continues to be felt in the place names, landscapes, and stories of northeastern Pennsylvania.

Snakes are among the most misunderstood animals in our region — and among the most important. Lacawac's Red White & Run 5K
Join us this November for Lacawac Sanctuary's newest race, the Red, White, & Run 5K! Held in honor of Veterans Day, this race is all about coming together to celebrate freedom, service, and sacrifice. Whether you choose to run, walk, or roll your way to the finish line, every stride is an opportunity to honor and support the heroes in our community.
When: Saturday, November 15th, 2025 — 9am Race Start
Where: Veteran’s Memorial Park — 109 Scenic Drive, Lacawaxen, PA 18435
Registration Fee: $20 before 11/1/25; $25 after
Proceeds of the race will benefit Lacawac’s environmental education programs in Pike County as well as Fin Chaser Warriors Outdoors, a veteran’s organization based in Lackawaxen Township.
