Lackawaxen Township Notice: Sign Regulations and Permitting
A friendly reminder to all residents and contractors in Lackawaxen Township regarding the placement of signs, including the yard-type signs frequently used by contractors.
As noted by the Code Enforcement Officer, there has been a recent increase in contractor signs being placed around the township. Please be advised that the Township Zoning Ordinance requires a permit for any sign and strictly prohibits attaching signs to trees or utility poles. In some cases, approval from the Board of Supervisors may also be required.
For your reference, the exact language from the Township Zoning Ordinance Book is provided below:
Section 504 Signs:504.1 General Sign Regulation:A. No person shall erect, alter, or relocate within the Township any sign without obtaining a permitM. No sign shall be attached to any tree, fence, utility pole, or other object not specifically intended for sign support except for “no trespassing” signs, legal warning or other private signs not exceeding one and one-half (1.5) square feet in surface area.
